It's the little things that matter...

Last weekend I picked up the book "The Happiness Project" by Gretchen Rubin. I'm 50 pages in and loving it! It's already insipired me to organize myself and my house (see previous post).

This morning before work, I was reading on the couch with Brooklyn and became inspired yet again by something the author talked out. One of her resolutions is to "remember love" and a goal under that resolution is to "give proofs of love."

She quoted Pierre Reverdy saying "There is no love; there are only proofs of love." I read this line over and over, wishing I gave those I love more "proofs of love."

Therefore, I've decided to make this one of my new goals. I know it will take a lot of effort on my part, because let's face it, I can be selfish and lazy. But if I have learned one thing, it is that the little things in life matter most, and that by showing those I love small acts of kindness or gestures, then we all win.

Even if it is taking out the trash myself instead of asking Bill to do it, or walking Brooklyn so Bill can go for a bike ride.
It also helps that it is February, the month of love. Maybe that will help jumpstart my love giving!
